Commissioning Custom Artwork

It seems as if I have been looking for years for that new piece of perfect artwork to hang over my living room fireplace:new artIt is not easy finding that perfect piece! Perfect size, perfect colors and perfect price. Impossible! I researched a bit and decided to go to a local artist Sue Dion Art, to have a custom made, just-for-me, perfect piece of artwork commissioned. If you are wondering where to begin having a special piece of art custom made for you, I read an informative article on the Do’s and Don’t when hiring an artist for a commission called The “ Newbie’s” Guide to Commissioning Artwork.  Very helpful and thorough. The basic questions the artist needed to know to begin, was the finished size I desired, what colors I wanted to be included in the color palette and the style and mood I wanted to convey, soft or bold. The perfect size was measured, (I decided on a canvas print because I needed a large piece and it will also cost much less expensive than a framed piece of art). For the perfect color palette in my living room, it would have to include blue and white:blue living roomTo those of you that know me, you know that I love blue and bold!new art2So crisp and clean for my new Wickham Gray painted walls! I just love it.Which of course now leads me into another project! The bookcase is painted in Chelsea Gray and has always worked well with the darker art I had hanging before:old picture newNow, to me, I think the bookshelves would look better with the new artwork if they were painted in white. So I gave it a try:art plus whiteNice! The photo does not do it justice. The white brightened up the whole fireplace area. It looks great with the new artwork and brightens and lightens the wall paper behind the bookshelves. She did an amazing job as you can see!:new new artI am very, very happy with my new piece of art! Have you ever had a painting custom made? Any other tips you would like to add?close astroHave a great weekend everyone!
