Useless Corner Shelves
My daughter Meg has been preparing and getting her new nursery ready! I am going to be a grandma for the first time! :) I have been helping her with different design suggestions in the room such as paint color and window treatments. But then she asked me what I thought about corner shelves:
When I asked her what she was going to use these corner shelves for, she said that she needed shelving for baby supplies, books, etc. I told her to take another look at them and think of what could possibly fit on these little floating shelves:
Nothing! Nothing fits on these tiny, miniature, fake shelves. A waste of time, money and space I told her. It is not possible to put anything on these small shelves but maybe a little bud vase:
Most floating corner shelves are rounded and are approximately 12” in radius. What can you possibly fit on a tiny shelf like that? One little 6” vase? So impractical. (Can you tell I am a little biased against corner shelves?) :)
I convinced her to use the wall space next to the corner of wall. Even a couple of wall shelves at only 24” wide will give you much more room to place items:
She is going to buy three of these 36” shelves and arrange over each other. She will have a lot more valuable space on her shelves than she would have on those tiny corner shelves! So if you are thinking of purchasing floating corner shelves for your home, please reconsider. They are pretty useless and do not even look nice. That’s all I have to say on corner shelves. Anyone a fan of them? :)
