Color Crush: Benjamin Moore Collingwood

I think Ben Moore’s Collingwood OC- 28 is a great neutral color that is often overlooked for the more popular colors such as Revere Pewter and Edgecomb Gray.

Did you know that Collingwood is one of the most ‘true’ grays, (non-undertoned gray), in the Benjamin Moore color palette collection? It does have a slight undertone of purple, but in all of my years specifying this paint color for clients, I have never heard anyone ever complain of actually seeing purple in their room:

Unlike Revere and Edgecomb, (which are grays with green undertones with some beige mixed in), Collingwood does not change from gray to greige depending on the light in a room. It stays a true soft gray in all lighting.

Collingwood is one of the only grays you can use on your walls that will not read blue or green. Seriously!(Most grays have either  blue or green undertones and they are very obvious about  showing them off). This color is part of Ben Moore’s off-white colors with an LRV of 62 which means the color will be soft and light, (the higher the Light Reflective Value number, the lighter and brighter a color will be). I LOVE this kitchen where the cabinets are painted with Collingwood in a semi-gloss finish:
