What’s Hot in Home Décor This Fall 2018
Hard to believe it is the end of August. The days are getting shorter and there is a definite chill in the air in the evening. Fall equinox begins on September 22 this year which is less than a month away! Are you ready to change Seasons? Here are a few highlights of the popular Autumn trends this year:Number one is Texture, texture, texture.
The use of natural wood in decorating is everywhere and makes the room feel complete with the balanced look of soft and durable:
The key is to create a balance of contrast between softness and textured items. Creating a cozy room is mixing in soft and comfortable textures with layered rugs, chenille blankets, weathered woods and woven baskets and rough natural textures such as trays and ottomans:
And macramé wall hangings!:
Popular in flooring and kitchen cabinets is using cerused wood (also called “limed wood”) which provides depth and texture for a look that’s worn yet polished. The finish blends seamlessly with today’s popular muted color palettes where gray is still popular:
Another textured item that is hot this Fall is Velvet being used for sofas and pillows:
As I mentioned here, the vibrant color of red-orange is being seen in accessories such as throws and pillows to transform a room into the cozy days of Autumn:
I took a few photos at Home Goods and Target today to show you how available these products are this Season:
Fur is still going strong as is the color navy blue.Round mirrors are super popular right now! I have always loved round mirrors in a room to help break up the square, hard edges of the walls:
One more item I want to mention, is that all white bedding seems to be on it’s way out. Colorful quilts and comforters are becoming more prevalent in bedrooms:
These are not all new ideas and trends, just more popular for this Fall of 2018. Have you already incorporated some of these ideas in your home?Have a great weekend everyone! xo
