I do a lot of online shopping for both clients and myself. It is a fast and easy way to order. I always read the reviews from customers regarding the product and that one step has been a deciding factor on buying many a product or not.
A hint to be aware of when reading the consumer evaluation is the date of the review:

I bought this lamp for a very traditional bedroom with a queen sleigh bed and a bedside chest. The lamp is the perfect scale for the bed and the chest. Would work equally well in a traditional living room. Both the lamp and shade are well made.

If you love the product and the reviewers agree that it is well made, then I would say go for it! Who cares what anyone thinks if you love the item.
