Top Kitchen Runners and my home decor find of the week

Imagine my delight, when I realized I found a new spot to decorate- my kitchen floor! I always suggest adding an area rug or runner in the kitchen to clients to bring in color and softness, so why did I not notice that something was missing in my own home? Sound familiar?

So, the search is on. Kitchen runners are not something found easily at home stores- more of a hit or miss. I am going online.

There is not much color in the kitchen if you think about it. Wood cabinets and flooring is the bulk of the kitchen color. Incorporating a runner in your kitchen design is the perfect way to add warmth, character, and color. Most kitchens have a lot neutral colors and minimal wall space, so adding a stylish, colorful rug can add some much-needed contrast to the space. I think being washable is a plus also.

Blue and green rugs exude a down-to-earth elegance and restful vibe to your room, especially when paired with neutral décor and natural textures. These nature-colored rugs work especially well with neutrals:

For a galley-style kitchen, a kitchen runner in 2.5'x7' or 2.5'x10' works best. Always measure before you buy! The rug should cover two-thirds to three-quarters of the floor width for a balanced look and shouldn't be placed edge to edge. Runner length comes down to personal preference, and most runners are between 6 feet and 14 feet long.
