Guest Room Redesign Progress
Happy Sunday! Well, probably just like you, I have not gotten too far with my home project. I have decided to wallpaper behind the bed and just like trying to choose the right paint color, I am going back and forth and having trouble making up my mind. So stressful! :)
In every room I design, I try and incorporate a feature wall that stands out from the remaining walls within the room. Whether it’s an accent wall of color or a wall dressed with a statement wallpaper, the ‘feature’ element means that it captivates with an alternative design. Something bold and different.
Take this guest room I am working on for example, a plain room with windows. What can I do to make it different and special? Wallpaper is an incredible design element that can instantly add color, personality, and art to your space. If you are going to paint the rest of the room, which I am, I suggest purchasing the wallpaper first, then finding the best paint color to work with.
BUYER BEWARE of Stick & Peel Wallpaper! My husband and I are pretty good at DIY projects but the peel & stick paper was a nightmare. It had no give to it- we could not line it up properly. A terrible experience with it. I was able to return the unused rolls and bought a regular non-pasted wallpaper and it was so easy to install! Here is a sneak peek:
I just love it. That back wall was so boring and I always loved wallpapered staircases so…… thank you Mike.
Back to guest room- After looking at hundreds, if not thousands, of wallpapers, I have finally chosen THE one. (Well, actually down to two similar). Remember this is MY style, what makes me smile when I walk into the room:

I have saved this paper sample for years because I love it so much. Too girly? Too pink? I don’t care. I think it is beautiful. It will make the room sing! I ordered samples, I will let you know! Now that I have two rooms wallpapered, staircase and guest room, I will not use anywhere else in the house probably. Too many rooms done in wallpaper would be too much. Another reason to get the one I love.
I told you here I was keeping the bed and adding an old dresser that is being refinished. Here is a little peak of the dresser:
Isn’t it gorgeous? Wait until you see with the mirror on top. So excited!
So that is how far I have come with the guest room redo. Everything takes so long! Especially trying to make design choices when it is your own space. Don’t you agree? haha I will keep you in the loop as changes are made in the room.
Remember the contest I asked you to vote in last week here?
