Sherwin William's Announces Poised Taupe as the Color of 2017

It’s time once again. The paint companies have begun choosing their ‘extraordinary’ color for next year. Sherwin William's has recently announced their color choice for 2017:

Sue Wadden, director of color marketing for Sherwin-Williams says, “It’s no secret that gray tones have had their moment in the sun and people are ready for a change but nothing too drastic. Going from gray to taupe is a comfortable shift in hue and will continue to work with furnishings and textiles, while looking current and modern wherever it’s applied."Poised Taupe celebrates everything people love about cool gray as a neutral, and also brings in the warmth of brown, taking a color to an entirely new level. Not cool or warm, nor gray or brown, Poised Taupe is a weathered, woodsy neutral bringing a sense of coziness and harmony that people are seeking."

What is your take on Poised Taupe? In my opinion, I think it is too much color too soon. This color is very dark for today’s interiors and I think we are still very much into clean and light colors. Do you agree?It is a pretty color. And I do understand how it brings gray and brown together.

When I see the color taupe, I see red undertones right away and that is because of the brown in the taupe. It is hard to tell from the above photos because the photos of Poised Taupe on my computer look very purple.Here is a picture I took of the Poised Taupe to give you a better idea of the true color:It’s really a very dark wall color. If you were looking for drama maybe. PLUS, we have been trying to banish all pinky beige from our homes so who is ready to bring that back in?!
