Idea For That Large Empty Wall
I have been working with a client where we are changing around her rooms on the first floor to make better use of the space as well a better flow through the rooms. One issue we faced is if she should remove a wall to make one larger room:See the wall to the left? This was once her dining room with a large living room on the other side. Since we moved her dining room into the sunroom, what to do with this space? One solution I gave her was, “How about a library wall”?
I think it would be perfect. A wall of shelves with a couple comfortable chairs and table sitting in front of them:
Ever since I saw this DC design house above in 2012, I have wanted to have an area like this is my own home. Love the look.
A library wall can be any size that works for you:
I think it would create not only an attractive area, but also leave an area open to flow right into the sunroom. If we did take down that wall, it would make the living room larger, but how many seating areas do you really need? I like the library wall idea better. Love to hear your thoughts!
