Half Walls- Old Becoming New Again.
How does that quote go? “ Everything that is old, is new again”? Well here is another example of that:
Half walls are gaining popularity in homes again. They are designed to create a feeling of separation or division, but also impart a feeling of connection and openness at the same time:
Half walls are also called knee walls or pony walls and were very popular in the 70’s. Here half walls mark the boundary between the kitchen and the dining area, connecting the two visually while giving each a separate identity:
I can understand how people like breaking up their spaces into smaller intimate areas. One reason is because it is much easier to decorate two smaller spaces than arranging furniture in one large room.
I have seen this idea not only between the kitchen and dining room, but also entryways:
Bedrooms:
And Baths:
I love the idea of building storage and bookshelves under the walls:
Very smart and beautiful!Do you think half walls will continue to grow in popularity?Happy Easter everyone!
