Color Crush - Champion Cobalt
You know that feeling when you find a color that you KNOW you need to use because it is just so beautiful? I get that feeling sometimes and I just found a color I would love to use in my home. That color is Ben Moore Champion Cobalt 2061-20:Surprised it is a blue? haha I can’t help it!I am working with an online client to find a kitchen color and for the first time, I suggested he buy an area rug BEFORE we picked wall colors. This is the kitchen before:A beautiful kitchen with many cabinets and hard surfaces. The first thing I thought was that the room could use a little softness to break up all the hard surfaces. Fabric is the best way to bring an easy going, less rigid look into a room such as an area rug, window treatments or table runner. I could not see the window treatments so I asked if he would consider replacing the area rug under the table for something more colorful:
Isn’t it beautiful? I love this rug. I am thinking of getting it for my new office it is so pretty. I choose this rug not only for the color vibrancy, but notice the gray in the rug which will work well with the surrounding rooms in Ben Moore Sandy Hook Gray:One trick I use to help narrow down colors is to print out the photo and look at my color decks:No it is not exact science, but it lets you narrow down quite a few colors until you find the right color shade family. Look how well the Bermuda Blue 2061-30 works with the rug. Kind of bright for the walls but look at the color underneath, Champion Cobalt 2061-20. Same undertones, just a bit darker. The Cobalt is keeping with the rest of the medium color palette in the home.Another reason I choose this area rug was the tan in the pattern to bring in the cabinets. There is not a lot of wall space for the paint color, just enough to bring in some color. Here are a couple examples of Champion Cobalt:
So pretty and so vibrant! Don’t you think this will make a great kitchen color? He is sampling now and hopefully will send after photos to share.I hope you are having a good week. The sun is finally out here in NE and today was 70 degrees. Summer is coming!
