Pantone’s 2018 Purple

December 9, 2017

I am sure you have already heard this week on social media that Pantone has announced it’s color of the year for 2018:

Ultra Violet 18-3838. Pantone chose this complex color to reflect a “complex” time. According to Pantone, Ultra Violet is a “provocative yet thoughtful” color. Historically, it’s been associated with nonconformity and spirituality. Pantone also believes this color symbolizes new possibilities and a hopeful future.

I am sure you have also read mixed reviews. People either are liking this color or giving it a definite thumbs down.

But I guess that happens every year, right? I myself love a gorgeous purple! I always have. I would not paint a whole room in it:

(Although I do like the room above!) I have quite a bit of purple in my home as accessories now:

This is just a small sample of my purple Christmas ornaments!:

Remember the 2014 Colors of the Year here?

In 2013, I wrote here working with purple and brown:

I love any accessory I see in purple:

Are you a purple fan?

Back to Christmas decorating!:

  1. My nieces love purple, and have since they were small. Maybe it’s a tip of the hat to little girls, and the little girl in all of us!

  2. Purple has always been a favourite of mine, and I plan on painting my bedroom a soft purple one of these days. So many shades of purple to choose from:) Merry Christmas & A Very Happy New Year to you and yours.

  3. I also have always loved purple. Not sure I would do an entire room in the color but I do have a purple accent wall in my living room which I love!
