Front Entry Decorating and Style Ideas
I am just finishing up a front entry with my client friend and thought I would share a few helpful tips to decorate your entryway.
1 If you are using a coat hook that is practical, but not so pretty like this:
Replace with attractive or interesting hooks and hang randomly in a space approximately 10-12 inches apart like this idea:
Vintage Hangers
If you have extra hooks with no coats hanging, hang a colorful scarf or hat for interest.
2 When selecting a paint color for your entry, I always suggest going with a lighter, neutral color. That way your color choices for the rooms off of the entry will be easier to select because you are not struggling to find a color to work with the color in the hall and up the stairs.
3 An easy update in the entry is the overhead light. Do you still have the same light from 10-12 years ago? A lot of people seem to overlook this poor light. Today, there are tons of choices from every different style, for entry lights. If you do not have enough height to hang a pendant or chandelier, you still have a wide selection of flush mount and semi-flush mount ceiling lights.
4 If you have a tiny, small area rug inside your door and you have space, a large colorful rug is a great way to bring color in the entry. There are not many ways besides a rug and artwork, so make it big and bold with color.
5 One idea we used for Marsha’s entry was using a dresser instead of a console table. Think of all the extra storage you can have for hats, gloves, leash, etc.:
Front entryways are a great place to ‘dress up’ and show some personality. I can’t wait to show you the after photos next week from Marsha’s entry. It looks fabulous!!
