Budget Friendly Idea For Backyard Privacy
Did you ever wish you could sit out on your porch but could not because of rain, hot sun or privacy from neighbors?
My friend Melissa had a great idea that she is implementing for her porch! She had been thinking of having a privacy fence built between her house and the neighbors. But the price she told me was in the thousands for a custom tall, long wooden fence to be built between her and the neighbors. Then she had an even better idea- installing shades! Outdoor blinds are ideal solutions for protecting an outdoor space from the sun’s harmful rays, wing, cold, rain, insects and dust. And another great feature is that they offer privacy.
Can you see through outdoor shades? Yes, you can see through outdoor solar shades. The level of privacy they provide will depend on the openness rating of the fabric you choose. The smaller the percentage, the less you can see through. For example a 1% solor shade will block 99% of light while a 14% percent will only block 86% of light. So you will be able to see through a 14% shade easier than a 1%. This makes solar shades great for cutting down on the sun while still preserving your view. But if you want more privacy, I would look for something closer to 1% .
Shades are fantastic in helping to block out the wind and rain, (not a hurricane haha) and the yellow pollen! and the strong sun. It protects not only you when you want to be outside enjoying your porch, but also protects your floors and furniture.
You can find outdoor solar shades at many places. Melissa used Budget Blinds, which I have used many times in different parts of the country. They come to your home and measure, help you pick out the correct type and then come back and install. Yes, it is more expensive than buying from Amazon or Home Depot but so worth it it certain situations. The come back and install is my favorite part.
If you are looking to check out the prices, below are a few I found with great reviews:
I may use affliate links, which at no extra cost to you earns me a small commission. Thank you very much!
Outdoor shades offer weatherproofing to protect your deck from harsh weather such as rain, sun and wind and also helps protect your furnishings. Shades can also offer privacy at a great budget friendly option.
Thank you Melissa for mentioning your genius idea and allowing me to share!
