Weekend Project

April 30, 2016

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend and enjoying your time.  My husband and I are busy painting our living room. This project has taken up a few weekends already.

I have tried four different paint  color samples:

I really wanted white walls in this room because of all the windows:

I tried Revere Pewter, the sample on the right below, which I knew would work well with our fireplace:

But both my husband and I just were not loving it. I think because we are so tired of the yellow that has been there the last six years, (Ben Moore Honeymoon), the slight beige we saw  in the Revere was not what we were looking for. Plus we had to work with an unusual trim color here:

Then I tried samples of both Simply White and Dove White:

Again, we just were not in love with it. The search for the perfect paint color went on.

Then I thought of Ben Moore Wickham Gray:

Here is the Wickham Gray on wall, between the Simply White and Revere Pewter:

It was the winner! We love the clean, sharp and brightness of the color:

I can’t wait to finish so I can share! So, this is what I have been doing all weekend. And probably the next few weekends!  How about you? Any good projects going on?

Enjoy the rest of the weekend my friends!

  1. Kelly,
With those beautiful windows, a color like that will make you feel like you are floating on air! Can’t wait to see the entire transformation! Just curious – what is the color of your trim, or closest match? Having an unusual trim color certainly makes choosing a new wall color a challenge, for sure. Happy Sunday!

  2. I have had Wickham Gray in my kitchen and dining area for a few years now and I am still not tired of it, In fact I still love the way it looks,so fresh and pretty. I am sure it will look fabulous in your beautiful space!

  3. Kelly: Even though you are an COLOR EXPERT, it’s a whole new ballgame when it is for yourself. right?
It took me 6 colors to get the color right in my place!
Thank goodness for testing colors ON ALL FOUR WALLS!
