It’s All In the Details- Stools

June 27, 2020

Happy Summer Sunday! My favorite part of any design project is finishing/styling with accessories and using little details that really make a room special. Stools are so versatile and can be used in every room in your home in multiple ways!

In the entry, stools are the perfect size to slide under a console table until needed for extra seating:

The bath is one of my favorite places for a stool to hold accessories and wine!:

I love using stools in a cozy reading nook:

Stools can be used as little tables:

Have you ever thought of using stools together as a coffee table?:

Or as a plant stand:

Stools are great for outside accessories too! :

Favorite Benjamin Moore Exterior Color Photos 2020

June 13, 2020

Happy Sunday everyone! I just wanted to share some pretty pictures I have seen online of Benjamin Moore painted exteriors. Popular subject this time of year!

Revere exteriors

Ben Moore Revere Pewter Exterior

I love Revere Pewter paint as an exterior color as much as I love Revere as an interior color! Great color. And no, it is not going out of style or losing popularity anytime soon. The Simply White trim above is a bit bright for me. I would use White Dove as my trim color. Which trim color do you like better with Revere- Simply White or White Dove? No answer is wrong!

White is not my personal favorite exterior color for a home, (except for farmhouses of course!), but this is just so beautiful:Read More

Exterior Pinky/Orange Brick Color Consultation

June 6, 2020

Hey everyone! Happy Sunday. Hope all is going well with you. Such crazy times, hoping  and praying it all ends soon.

I thought I would share a recent online exterior color consultation that came out really nice:

Hi Kelly,

I will send you more photos with angles showing the siding, the front door area, and a pic of the brick with white paper beside it by mid-day today.  And, yes, we are keeping the brick as is to minimize the amount of painting. I am looking for color suggestions to cover – trim, siding, garage door and front door.

I’ve been struggling with this because my mom wants the siding to be grey (it’s her house & I’m helping her), but I just can’t see it.  I also don’t want to do a “beige” because I just don’t like “beige” (I think it tends to look dated), although I do like “tans”.  I’m open to doing something more vibrant on the siding to really make the house pop, but I definitely need a more neutral palette option too since that is what my mom is expecting.

And, just for context – there is a blue house right next door, and a dark grey house two doors down (so, don’t want to look like those). Other houses around are either just pink brick or off white.

And After:

The existing brick was super bossy to work with! I knew right away we would have to work with a strong paint color to not be overwhelmed. We put together a couple concept boards to see how well the colors worked with the brick:

And the best is getting compliments like this from the client:

It’s the prettiest house on the block! You did a great job!!! Thank you!

You are so welcome! A challenge, but glad you and your mom are happy and it all worked out well.

Have a great week everyone!

How To Style Your Nightstand

May 16, 2020

Good morning everyone! I know that you are probably not thinking about decorating your nightstand at this moment, but if you find yourself with a little extra time and feel like playing stylist, I have put together a few tips for you:How To Style Nightstand Pro3

    • Design: It’s important to start with a good foundation — the nightstand itself! Choose a nightstand with a drawer and/or lower shelf so you can hide the clutter and stack your books and magazines underneath.
    • Lighting: Lighting in a bedroom is key, as you want to create a warm and gentle ambiance to set a calm environment for bedtime. I always make sure the lamp is on a dimmer so that it can be used for reading in bed as well as mood setting on a low level. Make sure that the scale is appropriate for the space you have. Choose a lamp that doesn’t take up the entire nightstand.
    • Mirrors: If your room is small, a mirror mounted on the wall behind the nightstand can make the room feel bigger.
    • Jewelry box: A box or small plate to hold your ring, watch and trinkets is important to help keep your bedside table organized.
    • Family photos: Having one professional photograph of a special milestone like a wedding or newborn photo is a nice way to remember the important people in your life. Make sure the frame doesn’t overpower the picture. Sterling silver frames are simple and will match with anything else you use on nightstand.
    • Clocks: So beautiful and functional too!
    • Books: Choose some pretty books,  it can be color or subject that attracts you and make a neat little stack.
    • Personal touches: Add something a little whimsical or sentimental. Those little pieces make a nightstand go from boring to perfectly styled!
    • Add a plant: Plants are continuously evolving accessories that you can customize over time. Not only do they look great, but they also create better air quality. Too much work? Go for a beautiful faux plant or flowers.
    • Trays are your friend: If you have the space, a tray will add visual interest and help to corral things like small bowls, a water glass and/or bud vase.
    • Keep it simple: Clutter has a way of stressing us out. Make sure your nightstand has built-in storage for all of your bedside accessories. Leave the top for essential accessories like a clock, lamp and pretty stuff.

Inspiring Outdoor Spaces

May 9, 2020

Hey everyone! Hope all is well and you are hanging in there.  My saving grace for my mental health right now is that the weather is warming up here in New England, ( not today, May 9th, it is freezing out!) and I am able to sit outdoors.

Your outdoor space can just as inviting, comfortable, and stylish as your interiors, but it also offers fresh air and nature. Here are a few outdoor seating area photos to help inspire your imagination to make a happy space outdoors:

New Home Projects Completed

April 25, 2020

We are happy with the way our living room is progressing:

Living room Flowers

These color are so me- pinks and blues.  I have always loved blue since I was little. Can you tell I love raspberry too? 🙂

The walls you see in the above photos are much closer to the actual paint color. My friend helped me lighten to be more accurate.

Here is a Before::old living room

These cherry blossom branches from the yard were beautiful! I just wish they lasted longer. Barely a week and I had to throw them out.

We also painted a bedroom accent wall. The room is just so big that I am making various ‘vignettes’ around the room . Remember I was looking for colors?:

bedroom testing

I am glad I tested because I thought Ben Moore Scenic Drive 697 would be the right choice, but after I compared with the next color on up paint strip, Pleasant Valley, it was a bit too dark. So Pleasant Valley 696, the lighter one, was the one we selected.
