Decorating a Console Table for Fall

September 7, 2019

Do you have any of those tables you walk by everyday but hardly notice? I do. This is what my console table has looked like since June:

Kind of sad to admit but I just let it go for the summer.  I am glad I felt like making something pretty yesterday and put in the effort.  It looks so much better! I actually made it up two ways to see which I liked best. One with colorful faux branches:console fall

Accessories such as chairs in a wood grain is a beautiful textural element in the kitchen especially if it is all-white kitchen. Also use wooden cutting boards in various shapes and sizes for a beautiful look:

And a simple tray works well corralling in your smaller items. I posted about kitchen decorating with trays here and here:

Or succulents:

Or a little herb garden:

My best tip when styling is to be sure not to add so much that the counter top looks cluttered. Love this simplicity, don’t you?:

A Beautiful Exterior Transformation With Before & After Photos

July 27, 2019

It has been a busy season for me with exterior paint color consultations and I really enjoy helping with color questions.  I especially love when the client sends me AFTER photos! Like my new friend Bethany who wrote asking if I would help her select paint colors for her home’s exterior:

Beth first wrote that she found me on Pinterest. She was ready to paint over the brick and needed a little color help. I told her that it is always harder to choose color for your own home! Isn’t that so true? She was actually getting her home ready to sell and wanted to brighten it up a bit. Here is the before:Read More

The Facts Regarding Cutting Paint By 50%

March 16, 2019

So you finally decide on your paint color and you are going to paint your living room walls with Benjamin Moore’s Gray Owl. You think that a great ceiling color would be a lighter version than the Gray Owl. You read somewhere online that you can get a custom color made by asking the paint store to lightened your color by 50%.   Makes sense, right?  Adding white will make the color lighter, right? Nope- not that easy. I decided to look into the idea that when you want a paint color lightened by half, you can ask at the paint store to ‘cut’ the color by 50%.  Is it practical? Is it doable? Does it work?
