Winter Centerpieces

January 14, 2018

With all of the Christmas decorations put away in my home, (well almost all), everything looks so bare and empty. So I have been trying to think of ideas to use for a centerpiece on my bare tables. When I google ‘winter centerpieces’ all I have found are Christmas decorations or extreme wedding table centerpieces. I even looked at the florist department at the market today- no flowers, no anything!

I thought I had one good idea- forcing Spring branches indoors. But after googling that subject, I found it is still too early for that here in the Northeast.  A few of the early bloomers I love is Forsythia, Magnolia, Flowering quince, Pussy willows, Flowering dogwood, Lilacs and of course Cherry blossom branches!

There are no buds on our trees yet and normally will not be until late February- early March. I am definitely going to be on top of this project and will let you know all about it in a month or so!

One idea I have been seeing a lot of is cotton stems used in containers:

I really like the look! They are referred to as a farmhouse accessory, but who says I can’t use in my home too? 🙂Read More

Creative Ideas and Inspiration For Decorating Your Christmas Tree and Wreaths

November 26, 2016

Last week I was fortunate to be able to visit two great stores for Christmas ideas and supplies. In RI, I visited Carbone’s:

Carbone’s Floral Distributor is a full-service wholesaler with 3 departments – fresh flowers, greenhouse plants, and floral hard goods. It is an overwhelmingly large store set up in a huge warehouse with fresh flowers from all over the world and tons of craft supplies. They had a few Christmas trees set up for ideas and inspiration:

Plan It Out

November 14, 2015

I don’t want to talk about the Holiday Season too early, but…..

Looking ahead, wouldn’t it be fun to create something fabulous that makes you smile every time you walk in the room?

If you want to create a pretty and special Christmas tree or tabletop setting, a decorated mantel, bookshelf, etc. this Season, it is necessary to plan it out:

Those beautiful table settings you see in blogs and magazines? Definitely written down and planned out to the last napkin. Same with those gorgeous, original Christmas trees you see. All planned out.

And if I can figure out how to create something out of my normal craft boundaries- you can too! For instance, this year I decided to try something new and I am adding ribbon to my Christmas tree:

I saved the project here on my Christmas Pinterest board. I printed out the directions and wrote a list of what I will need. Now that I started to plan, I will have time to purchase my ribbon and not be rushing around at the last minute when I put up my tree.

Another project I have always wanted to do is making a Christmas boxwood tree:

I love them! Just so pretty and sweet.

I am going to try it! It will be fun however it turns out. Now I just have to plan it out…..

Have a great weekend everyone!
