Benjamin Moore’s Wrought Iron is a black/gray paint color that is less harsh than black. Many think of this color as a black, but  I think it can also fit in the category of charcoal gray:

Agree Or Disagree?

red door

This photo above is a beautiful home that I pass often while driving. But I always thought something was off with the colors on the exterior. Until I learned about color undertones.

I do love a bold front door:

However, if you take a closer look at the color of the exterior stone:

I can see the orange undertones in the stone. Do you?  I think instead of the red, which is clashing with the stone, I would suggest painting the front door a beautiful rust color, that has the same orange undertones as the exterior, such as Benjamin Moore Firenze AF-225:

Do you remember a couple weeks ago when I shared a project where I was helping a client find a front door color here?:

I had given her two beautiful color choices to look at. Although she sampled and loved the turquoise color:

She was even more excited about a shade of red-orange I had suggested:

My color suggestions were based her existing brick color and newly painted garage. And did you notice the new lighting we choose?:

So pretty! I also suggested that she paint her shutters in a lighter color to work with her side-door panel and garage. Now it looks like the house is unified and well balanced.

She sent me this message soon after it was completed:

“The contractor finished today and the house looks wonderful!! Atrue transformation! Thank you so much for your assistance with this project. I truly couldn’t have done it without you. The contractor commented that the house now looked more inviting and I certainly agree. I think the paint colors came together very nicely!”
