Don’t you agree the gray together with the brick looks beautiful?

Grays are tricky because of their undertones. The undertones of a color really stand out in the sunlight. The lighter grays have blue undertones, such as Boothbay Gray HC-165 and Stonington Gray HC-170. Here is a example photo:Read More

Martha’s Vineyard Stonington Gray Exterior Project

January 26, 2019

What color do you think of when you picture a home exterior on Martha’s Vineyard? I think of light and airy beach colors. And that is just what the customer ordered- “I want gray and white beachy!”.

The first paint color that came to my mind was Benjamin Moore’s Stonington Gray HC-170:

A modern and fresh medium toned gray with a slight blue undertone.  I have suggested this paint color many times on exterior consultations. The client sampled on a large poster board and loved it.

Do you remember a couple weeks ago when I shared a project where I was helping a client find a front door color here?:

I had given her two beautiful color choices to look at. Although she sampled and loved the turquoise color:

She was even more excited about a shade of red-orange I had suggested:

My color suggestions were based her existing brick color and newly painted garage. And did you notice the new lighting we choose?:

So pretty! I also suggested that she paint her shutters in a lighter color to work with her side-door panel and garage. Now it looks like the house is unified and well balanced.

She sent me this message soon after it was completed:

“The contractor finished today and the house looks wonderful!! Atrue transformation! Thank you so much for your assistance with this project. I truly couldn’t have done it without you. The contractor commented that the house now looked more inviting and I certainly agree. I think the paint colors came together very nicely!”
