New Bed = New Bedroom Design!

March 31, 2013

It only makes sense that when a new bed is purchased, you should continue to redecorate the whole bedroom! Don’t you agree? 🙂

I knew you would back me up on this! My husband actually picked out our new bed. It reminds him of a bed we owned years ago that he has always missed. It’s style is British Colonial:

I like that the bed sits up higher and that I do not have to deal with a bed skirt:

I just purchased the white bedding that I will keep. I put a little design board together for myself starting with the fabric I ordered for the window panels:

I am also going to use this fabric above to make a boudoir pillow for the bed. It is such an easy way to decorate the bed:

Here is my plan:

Since the furniture is heavy looking, I tried to lighten it with crystals, mirrors and other light accessories. I could pick so many different rugs but I think this one works well with the light and dark together. I love my new fabric! I will post pictures when room is complete. Soon I hope!

Any other suggestions my friends? I would love to hear your ideas.

Thank you!!

  1. It all sounds/looks beautiful, Kelly! I really love the pair of benches for the end of the bed. It’s funny – in the image of pillows you have on the design board, the pillow in the back is one I used last summer for a front porch makeover for an article in The Tennessean newspaper! Can’t wait to see everything in place 🙂

  2. Great ideas for lightening up such a heavy bed. I think you meant to say British Colonial style though. British Columbia is Canada’s most westerly province. I don’t know of any furniture styles in that name – yet!

  3. Depending on how much color pop you want, you might think of painting the botanicals’ frames a green to bring a little of that color out from your fabric. Or….if that’s too much, maybe just do green botanicals in the current frames. I’m a sucker for botanicals…LOVE em 🙂 Or maybe just a green vase on one nightstand with fresh (or fake) flowers 🙂
