Merry Christmas To You!

December 23, 2019

I just wanted to take the the time to say Happy Holidays and Happy New Year! Can’t believe it is Christmas 2019 already. Going to be 2020 next week!

I wanted to share a quick decorating tip with you for organizing in the new year. I am so happy with my new spice organization inside a kitchen drawer:

I have always wanted to organize my spices where I could see them and find the ones I need! Not hidden in a cabinet or hard to read and find in a lazy susan.  This way is working out great so far!

Thank you all for taking the time to stop by. I love when you leave comments to let me know what you think. I really appreciate it and hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year!

Week Two in the New Home

December 14, 2019

I can’t believe that of all the items I am having trouble finding for our new home, it is a new shower curtain for the guest bath. Guests are coming next week!  I am a pretty good accessory shopper but I can not seem to find the right one. I have been shopping local and online.  A friend commented on this photo I posted earlier in the month using two shower curtains:

I really like the look and I thought it was a great idea until I looked at my shower wall. I think the purpose of the open curtains is to have something pretty to look at such as a window:

Unfortunately, I do not have something pretty to view in my guest bath:

I DO have a curved shower rod which I never even thought about before. Did you know a curved shower curtain rod will provide up to 33% more room in the shower?  They say that it helps keep the wet, sticky shower curtain further away from your body so it doesn’t “attack” you like it does in closer quarters! We will see.Read More

Moving Into Our New Home

December 7, 2019

Happy Sunday everyone! I wanted to write a short post letting you know that I am still around, (missed two weeks of posts) and that we have moved into our new home!

new home

Mike and I are now in a one-story home, half the square footage we have previously lived in. Downsizing is hard, (too many decisions to make about getting rid of stuff) but it is also refreshing and uplifting! For example, an armoire that was in good shape that we have moved six times to homes in the past and have hardly used, is now donated to someone that can use a dresser:

Great feeling. I have not had a chance to decorate much since I just moved in the day before Thanksgiving, but being so close to the Holiday’s, I am going to just do some fun Christmas decorating for now:

I am planning to do some painting soon I hope! What do you think about painting these tops of the tray ceiling navy blue?:Read More

Attention All Paint Testers! Before & After Photos

November 2, 2019

For those of you who are not testing your paint colors the correct way, you are just making an already stressful project into an even more difficult decision.  I know it is easier, I get that. But, when you test the new color samples by painting right over the existing painted walls:paint testing

You are not seeing the new color in it’s true hue. This is exactly what happened recently to a client who wanted to paint her beautiful, large, open concept new home:

She knew exactly what look she was going for, but could not find THE color and was going crazy. She stated that she did not like the peach walls from the previous owner and had tested a few favorite paint samples she thought might work:

So she hired me to help her find a perfect color. I gave her a couple suggestions of paint colors but I also told her, “Maybe one reason you are having a hard time selecting a color is how you tested the color. When you paint samples right on wall, the existing color of wall affects the color and will not be the same. The best way to sample is too paint a poster board, two coats like you will for walls, and move all around day and night to different spots. You should use a white plain piece of paper between sample and existing wall color so all you see is the actual sample color. More work I know, but pretty accurate. Be sure to put white paper between new color sample and existing wall color. That peach will really throw you off!

After a few days she wrote:

Hi,

After you suggested the paint card it changed everything Lol

I went with Repose gray. I’m glad I did that!:

What a beautiful transformation! The magic of paint! I know I repeat myself over and over about testing the correct way, but it is that important. Please take the extra time and extra steps and you will be a color expert also! Let me know if you have any questions about correctly testing paint samples in your home.

I also wanted to share a new eDesign mood board I am working on in Photo Shop:

Hard to learn but I am having so much fun with it. Have a great weekend everyone!
