Partial Window Curtain Rods, Yea or Nay?

September 14, 2019

What is your opinion of partial curtain rods? I am currently working online with a client who recently asked me, “What do you think of short rods?” “Not a fan”,  I wrote back  quickly, ( I wrote back the next day and said that I hope my comment did not sound rude!) I explained to her that just because I did not like the look, that doesn’t mean they won’t work if you like the style.

I never even thought about using them in a room. I decided to take a look online and see if I was missing something.Read More

Decorating a Console Table for Fall

September 7, 2019

Do you have any of those tables you walk by everyday but hardly notice? I do. This is what my console table has looked like since June:

Kind of sad to admit but I just let it go for the summer.  I am glad I felt like making something pretty yesterday and put in the effort.  It looks so much better! I actually made it up two ways to see which I liked best. One with colorful faux branches:console fall

Exterior Front Stonework

August 31, 2019

Do you have stonework on the front of your exterior? There are so many options to be considered to enhance the front of your home and stone can be a great way to add an interesting, custom look. Our architect we are working with assumed we were having stone installed on the front and I think it is because it seems every new home build is using stone for the front exterior. My first thought was yes, I definitely would like some stone work mixed in as well as painted siding. But then I started researching in depth looking through Houzz and Pinterest for ideas and inspiration for our new home and thought for the style of our home,  maybe stone would not be the best option. Our front exterior looks similar to the below photo, (although we did make quite a few changes):Read More

Fireplace Wall Design Ideas

August 10, 2019

Mike and I are in the fireplace wall design stage for the new home. I like to get a few ideas together to show Mike to help narrow down our final decision. (There is no way he is going to stand there and look at all the different photos I look at!). Although I loved our NH fireplace:

I think I want something clean and minimal like the rest of the house will be. Although, a stone fireplace is beautiful:

Accessories such as chairs in a wood grain is a beautiful textural element in the kitchen especially if it is all-white kitchen. Also use wooden cutting boards in various shapes and sizes for a beautiful look:

And a simple tray works well corralling in your smaller items. I posted about kitchen decorating with trays here and here:

You can bring life into any kitchen by adding a potted plant or fresh flowers to your counter:

Or succulents:

Or a little herb garden:

My best tip when styling is to be sure not to add so much that the counter top looks cluttered. Love this simplicity, don’t you?:

It allows you to have room and space to spread things out to cook and work on.

Cookbooks can be a great way to bring a little bit of color into your kitchen too!

And yes, I do use affiliate links at times and if you purchase anything, I make a little profit. A win-win for both of us!

Have a good weekend everyone!

A Beautiful Exterior Transformation With Before & After Photos

July 27, 2019

It has been a busy season for me with exterior paint color consultations and I really enjoy helping with color questions.  I especially love when the client sends me AFTER photos! Like my new friend Bethany who wrote asking if I would help her select paint colors for her home’s exterior:

Beth first wrote that she found me on Pinterest. She was ready to paint over the brick and needed a little color help. I told her that it is always harder to choose color for your own home! Isn’t that so true? She was actually getting her home ready to sell and wanted to brighten it up a bit. Here is the before:Read More
