Fireplace Wall Design Ideas

August 10, 2019

Mike and I are in the fireplace wall design stage for the new home. I like to get a few ideas together to show Mike to help narrow down our final decision. (There is no way he is going to stand there and look at all the different photos I look at!). Although I loved our NH fireplace:

I think I want something clean and minimal like the rest of the house will be. Although, a stone fireplace is beautiful:

Pendant Lighting

July 13, 2019

Hey everyone! Mike and I have been busy moving forward with plans on our new home. We are now working on electrical and lighting. There are ALOT of lights we have to choose! We decided to start looking for lights for the kitchen first and  I thought over the island would be a good place to start.  Here are a few of my favorite pendant lights I found.

Inspirational Ideas for Breakfast Nook

June 8, 2019

Hey everyone! I have been wanting to post but have been super busy lately with client color/decorating consultations and planning our new home! We have so many decisions that have to be made, interior and exterior. Everything from interior doors, stone on the outside, pantry room, lighting, facets, tile, countertops, hardwood flooring, appliances, and so much more. Fun and exciting but stressful too!

One of my dream requests for the new house, is that I would love a sunny, bright breakfast area. A place to enjoy sitting in the morning and during the day. So that is what I am working on right now, (although the contractor thinks I am planning where to put light switches! haha

On our house plans,  the breakfast nook area is 13’ x 10’. It is part of the kitchen with windows all around. I haven’t decided for sure if I am putting in a bench along the window:

Strike that last thought- I would love a bench against the back window!

We decided against having a dining room because it just would not get used very often so why take up the space. We are more kitchen hang-out people.

Here is another great idea- how about wall papering the inside between the windows? How pretty it looks:

This space below is so perfect to me. I think I found my inspiration for my dream breakfast nook:

I have a whole Pinterest board here on kitchen nook ideas if you would like to see more inspirational photos!

Do you have a breakfast nook? Do you love it? If not, why?

Thanks everyone! Until next time. I hope you have a wonderful, sunny weekend!

Dreaming of Settling Down

March 23, 2019

Hey Everyone! A new adventure in moving is coming our way again. After we have moved six times in the past ten years, we are finally building our permanent dream home! On seven acres with a stream and a pond.We are so excited. We are finally putting down roots and settling down.

My husband and I thought we were settling down when we moved full time to our beautiful NH home. We love that home and spent most weekends and all vacations in the mountains, but once we moved up here full time, we realized that we missed our family and friends too much!  It’s been a great year living up in NH but we are excited for our next chapter – especially about being able to build a house the way that we’ve always wanted. One of the most exciting pieces is that I get to plan my dream kitchen:

Color Crush: Benjamin Moore Horizon

September 29, 2018

I have been stressing out all week trying to decide on paint colors for our new home. Painter is on his way and I have not selected a single color! Sound familiar? It is always more difficult to select colors when it is your own place! First up to be painted is a guest room:

We decided to keep the carpet for the time being.  I thought about buying new bed linens but the flooring is so bossy it really limited my options. I actually found a lovely white comforter I have and can use. So where else to start looking for color inspiration? Art is another good place to start and I have so much artwork from the other house, why not try to use what I already have? I love this piece and it works really well with the carpet:

At first I thought I would bring in navy for window treatments, lamps, etc., but doesn’t the turquoise also look great?:Read More

Mixing Stained Trim/Doors With White

September 22, 2018

There are no pretty pictures this week my lovelies! Just a little lesson on one of the most common questions I receive from readers and that is  asking about mixing stained trim and doors with painted white trim and doors. I wrote a blog on this subject here a few years ago. Many homeowner’s wish to update their stained trim to white but they find it so overwhelming because there is so much of it throughout the home.

One solution I wrote about here, is to paint the walls, trim and doors all one color:

Another idea I think works well for an updated look is to leave the doors stained, (which is expensive to change), and paint the trim around the door white:Read More
