Benjamin Moore Color Trends 2014

When I met with my Ben Moore design rep the other day, she asked what I thought about the new 2014 Color Trends. I have to admit, as much as I am crazy about color and try to keep up with everything, I had not even really looked at the colors yet. Everything goes by so fast- read today or it is gone. For some reason, I just skipped over the rest of the new colors.

Of course I read all about the color of the year, Breath of Fresh Air:

breath of fresh air

Benjamin Moore states that Breath of Fresh Air 806 is the common thread that weaves through every color chosen for the Benjamin Moore Color Trends 2014 palette. I can see that.

Here is the Color Trends 2014 ‘new’ neutral palette:

What are your thoughts?  At first glance, I thought they were all pastels. Some are light such as Fruit Shake 2088-60:

And Distant Gray 2124-70:

But there are also quite a few of mid to darker shades such as Sparrow AF-720:

Van Deusen Blue HC-156:

Caribbean Teal 2123-20:

caribean Teal

And Super Nova 1414:

Love those blues!

I have worked with Clay Beige OC-11:

Palladian Blue HC-144:

And Nightingale AF-670:

One color I really want to try is Coral Essence 2007-40 with soft blue:

  1. Now that I am preparing to repaint the entire interior of my own home I can’t wait to go in a totally different direction than what I have now. Some of these colors are very tempting but I have to keep in mind that my house is not suited for some of those tropical blues and greens..even though I love them. Thanks for posting!

  2. There are some beautiful colors and when used in the right rooms, all are simply gorgeous. I actually swooned when I saw the first photo shown in Lavender Mist. Ahhhhhh…..

  3. Thank you for showing us examples of all the beautiful colors – making me take a 2nd look at them. Personally I think their colour of the year, breath of fresh air, is very strong and might be a little too bright and strong on the wall – although it does look beautiful here. Thanks for sharing!

  4. I know this is 2015 now, but I painted our basement ceiling “breath of fresh air” this past fall. It’s Beautiful!!! I am from the South and I don’t have a porch ceiling to paint. We are painting the front door this color this summer. We have shiny brass hardware, and I can’t wait! Only wish something else needed painting?!?
