Warm Holiday Wishes From My Home to Yours

December 22, 2017

Is everyone ready for the big day? I am pretty well all set, just waiting for the family to arrive!

My Christmas decorating is pretty simple again this year, just a few Holiday vignettes around the house which makes me happy:

I kind of went overboard on making snow jars because I was having so much fun with them:

I think I like taking the photos as much as I like the decorating.

Another Example Of Why Darker Paint Colors Look Fabulous with Stained Wood

December 17, 2017

I have been not only getting ready for Christmas this past week, I have also been moving to my new, full time home in New Hampshire:

It has been a crazy couple of weeks, but I am really enjoying myself. I think part of this joy might be that both my kids and the new baby Jameson is coming to spend Christmas here! I can’t wait!

Anyway!   When we moved one of the bedrooms upstairs around, I wanted to use this wood headboard we brought from our previous home in RI that both my husband and I love. When we put against the wall, I really was struck how beautiful the wood looked with the wall color:

The Prettiest Wrapping Paper of All

December 12, 2017

All these years I have been spending big bucks on assorted wrapping paper, bags and boxes to try and give ‘pretty’ looking gifts. But this year I realized the most beautiful wrapped gifts of all are wrapped simply in plain brown paper:

Aren’t they so pretty?!:

Pantone’s 2018 Purple

December 9, 2017

I am sure you have already heard this week on social media that Pantone has announced it’s color of the year for 2018:

Ultra Violet 18-3838. Pantone chose this complex color to reflect a “complex” time. According to Pantone, Ultra Violet is a “provocative yet thoughtful” color. Historically, it’s been associated with nonconformity and spirituality. Pantone also believes this color symbolizes new possibilities and a hopeful future.

I am sure you have also read mixed reviews. People either are liking this color or giving it a definite thumbs down.

But I guess that happens every year, right? I myself love a gorgeous purple! I always have. I would not paint a whole room in it:Read More

Winter Scene with Apothecary Jar and Faux Snow

December 4, 2017

Something I started playing with last Christmas while decorating and really enjoyed was snow-filled apothecary jars and cloches:

I have always loved cute little miniature accessories so this project was right up my alley. Simple and festive!

You can see last years faux snow projects here.

It is literally a 5 minute project. For supplies you need faux snow (or salt or baking soda works too), an apothecary jar or cloche, a few mini trees, and mini sleigh or any other miniature figurine:

All you do is, cover the base of the jar/cloche with craft snow, add the mini trees and  figurine, and the sprinkle some more craft snow on your winter scene. Told you it was easy!

Here are a couple snow scenes I made this year:snowmanRead More
