Finding The Right Accessory At Home

May 22, 2016

This past week I was in the mood for a little decorating project! I decided to change up a guest room:

I know it is fine as it is, but I like moving stuff around and changing things up, don’t you? (I can see a few of you shaking your head yes!)Read More

Bedroom Arrangement Basics

February 13, 2016

A few readers asked if I could do a post on bedroom furniture arrangements after reading my Living Room Furniture Arrangement 101 with all the tips and basics. I believe your bedroom is your space and I like to keep it serene and quiet. Not like the rest of the crazy house! It is the last room you see when you fall asleep and the first in the morning. You deserve a nice room after all you do for everyone else all day!:

Blue & Beige Bedroom Consultation

January 28, 2016

I have been working online with a woman from Chicago on her bedroom redesign. She found me on Pinterest on my design boards here.  Her design plan is coming out so nice I just wanted to share. Her bedroom was already painted in Revere Pewter and she just needed a little help finding bedding, window treatments and a few accessories that would work well together with the Revere.

The Inspired Room Book Tour

The Inspired Room2

Melissa Michael’s new book The Inspired Room was released this week, (isn’t the cover beautiful?) and to celebrate, she’s inviting her blogger friends to share posts about how we were inspired to decorate a room in our home.

The room that popped immediately in my head was my guest room redesign. I recently finished decorating a bedroom in our NH home that I would finally be pleased to have guests stay over.

This was the guest room when we first moved in:

Pretty sad guest room. Then by chance, I found this great headboard screen at Pier1 and the room took off from there. It was my inspiration piece for the room! So much better looking after don’t you agree?:

I found a great turquoise color I loved using the BM Color Capture App here. It is an easy tool to use to help you find the perfect paint color. I used many items that were already in the room and ‘borrowed’ the turquoise chair from another room. Love that free shopping!

I think the room came out nice and comfy and is ready for guests. Plus our view out the window is a bonus!:

You will love Melissa’s new book! It is filled with beautiful photos just like her first book, Love The Home You Have . I bought my copy this week and am enjoying each page. I love her laid back style of writing and decorating. And the photography is gorgeous!

BM Color Capture App

June 22, 2015

Have you tried the Benjamin Moore color app that helps you select paint colors?:

I wrote about this app here when it first came out in 2011. I actually forgot all about until recently when trying to figure out the best shade of blue to work with this comforter:

I used my phone to download and it is a super easy app to use. There are clear instructions on how to take a photo and then how to use the picture to find the colors of your object:

stunning

I always like to try a few times to see if I get different colors. I knew Stunning 826 would be a good match as well as Old Navy 2063-10:

I was pleasantly surprised at one color name I would not have thought of:

gentleman's gray

Ben Moore Gentleman’s Gray 2062-20. A beautiful turquoise blue.

Another option I like is Twilight:

What I also like about this app, is you can tap anywhere on your photo, and the color palette will adjust:

fire and ice

baltic sea

Pretty amazing. I think it is a good tool (plus it’s free!) An excellent place to start looking if you have no idea where to begin.

My adventures this past weekend in NH:

We saw a Mother bear and FIVE babies in my front yard!! So cool. This was the best picture I got:

Happened so fast. I sat on the deck most of the next day with my camera and of course they never came by again. Then I see this:

Baby squirrels!

We had a lot of clouds this weekend:

Online Coral & Aqua Bedroom Design

October 8, 2014

[pinterest]I recently completed an online design plan for Carol on a new bedroom design that she said I could share. She is recently divorced and was looking for a beautiful and feminine bedroom to come home to.

I found a coral fabric that we used as a starting point for the room:

So pretty! Carol wanted white bedding, so she is going to use this fabric as a duvet folded at the bottom of bed and possibly even window panels.

She already has a bedroom set that we incorporated in our plan:

I gave her a couple different wall colors to think about and she decided to go with Benjamin Moore Simply White:

A beautiful new mirror for over the dresser:

And here is Carol’s new bedroom design board:

We love it! Coral and aqua is such a pretty color combination. I also suggested finding an old dresser that she could paint in a soft aqua color. Carol promised to send after photos which I will be sure to share with you!
